Dates are announced for the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place in Qatar

President of the International Federation for Football Associations (FIFA) Gianni Infantino on Friday announced the dates for the 2022 World Cup which is to be held in Qatar – with the tournament to be held outside of the summer for the first time, considering the climate of the host nation. Gianni revealed at a press conference on Friday that the tournament will begin on 21 November, with the final being played on 18 December. Reported thepeninsulaqatar.com

The final will be staged on 18 December 2022 which coincides with Qatar National Day.

FIFA World Cup tournaments feature 32 teams and FIFA decided to increase it to 48 teams from 2026 tournament (2026 will be held across Canada, Mexico and the USA). FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be the last tournament with 32 teams before the expansion.
