The Indian community in Qatar welcomes this move as this will help parents who are applying for minor and newborn passports. This will save time and also more convenient.
Welcoming the move, ICC president AP Manikantan said it would help community members in a big way. “Until now, parents had to go to the embassy to apply for passports for their minor children or newborns. This facility will help them complete the formalities at ICC and avoid going all the way to West Bay,” he was quoted as saying by Gulf Times.
Indian Embassy is located in West Bay, whereas The ICC is located off E-Ring Road in Abu Hamour (click here to find location). Many people will find it more easy to drive to ICC than visiting the Indian Embassy at West Bay.
When it comes to timings, The ICC has more flexible timings than the Indian embassy. Besides the timings, ICC provides consular services throughout the week. Whereas Indian Embassy does not provide consular services on weekends (Friday and Saturday)
Consular Services timings at Indian Embassy:
- Sunday to Thursday: 9.15 am to 12.15 pm & 4 pm to 5.15 pm
Consular Services timings at ICC:
- Saturday to Thursday: 9 am to 12 noon & 4 pm to 9 pm
- Friday: 8.30 am to 11 am & 4 pm to 9 pm
QatarIndians.com team on behalf of all the Indians living in Qatar thank Indian Embassy and everyone who is behind this move.
